Parachute Youth
But before you watch the fabulous clip, please put on your goggles - it's going to be dusty! The clip was directed by French-Italian filmmaker Julien Paolini. The song quickly became a summer classic with its uplifting energy and infectious beat. But what truly elevated it was the music video – more than a video, it’s a cinematic journey. Shot in the dusty landscapes of Africa, it radiates freedom, rhythm, and raw beauty. Though Parachute Youth eventually split, their hit remains a timeless gem of indie-electronic music.
Tangerine Dream
Pink-Floyd, Kraftwerk and just Tangerine Dream started their careers with free improvisation, but over time found different ways to find their sound and thus the mass audience. Krautrock was the term used in German, which alone defined the listeners. A lot of listening tolerance was necessary and soon it was clear to Edgar Froese that he could not be satisfied with the guitar alone. So they invested a lot of money in synthesizer systems, which at that time quickly cost half a million German marks. The investment quickly paid off and Tangerine-Dream became the epitome of industrial scoring of its time, though never as successful as the two other bands mentioned above. Tangerine Dream's music was much more intellectual and more attributable to art, though opinions differ on this. Each concert was definitely worth listening to and seeing, because inner images were triggered without big visual bells and whistles! Lugging all the instruments there made a gig not exactly cheap, but the music freak paid kindly. Unfortunately Edgar Froese passed away on January 20, 2015 and leaves behind an orange dream by becoming one himself. RIP
Die Antwoord
As in past albums, Yolandi Visser and Ninja manage to provoke in their own way, but the first time a little softer, probably to broaden their appeal in the pop market without upsetting the cult fans. And so Marilyn Mason kneels at times before Yolandi or Dita Von Teese before Ninja. Even British top model Cara Delevingne makes a cameo appearance. There is also an outing as an Aphex Twin fan and beware: the video is bloody, cheesy, dark and bright! Please don't take everything so seriously, because what started as a joke in 2009 became an internet hype, whereupon it was decided to continue the thing. Die Antwoord are the aliens of the music industry. One looks with open mouth and can not believe it or leave!
Dillon
This is about not easy, but proves that your voice gets full attention in this solitude, because an insecure voice could never ever do that. This is also what makes Dillon: solid voice meets reduced arrangement, which may well be at the feet of Detroit techno, but not only. Also the piano is again and again important mainstay. Darkness meets bright shreds of light to disappear again in the infinity of dark matter - just beautiful!
None of them
This succeeds quite well and so dominates on the current album "one of them" in addition to electronica, guitars, voices and drums, again and again a skillful bass playing! In general, it comes across quite "un-Zürcherisch" and could well have sprung from a British urban environment - but it is not!
