Jean Michel Jarre - A Journey into the Sound"

On October 16, 2015, the 18th studio album by Jean Michel Jarre was released. The concept album was created in cooperation of 15 artists who belong to the same scene and Jarre with the same dedication and passion. At the beginning of the album everything was open and no one knew where the journey would go with Vince Clarke, M83, Air, Massive Attack, Edgar Froese, Armin van Burren, Moby and other allies. This ARTE doc summarizes Jean Michel Jarre's journey and goes into detail about his collaborations with the artists on the new album. It is nice that at the end in the studio of Hans Zimmer in Hollywood is referred to the father "Maurice Jarre", who throughout his life saw Los Angeles as his own musical territory.

Am 16. Oktober 2015 ist das 18. Studioalbum von Jean Michel Jarre erschienen. Das Konzeptalbum entstand in Kooperation von 15 Künstlern, welche der selben Szene angehören und Jarre mit der selben Hingabe und Leidenschaft verbindet. Zu Beginn des Albums war alles offen und niemand wusste wohin die Reise mit Vince Clarke, M83, Air, Massive Attack, Edgar Froese, Armin van Burren, Moby und andere Verbündeten gehen würde. Diese ARTE-Dok fasst die Reise von Jean Michel Jarre zusammen und geht auf die Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlern des neuen Albums ein. Schön ist, das zum Schluss im Studio von Hans Zimmer in Hollywood auf den Vater "Maurice Jarre" hingewiesen wird, der Zeit seines Lebens Los Angeles als sein eigenes musikalisches Territorium sah.

Leisure Cruise

Positive vibes - dance, dance, dance! "Leisure Cruise" is not an easy name for non-Anglo-Americans to remember and pronounce, and this could be one of the reasons why the New York band hasn't really taken off yet. Dave Hodge and Leah Siegel do their job extremely well! Maybe it's also because of their other projects Broken-Social-Scene and Firehorse that the big breakthrough hasn't happened yet. The video with the weird hippie dancer in Bollywood look is great and the song encourages you to do the same as the protagonist: put on headphones and dance through the streets!

Positive vibes - dance, dance, dance! "Leisure Cruise" ist für Nicht-Angloamerikaner ein nicht einfach zu merkender und auszuprechender Name und dies könnte unter anderem der Grund sein, warum die New-Yorker-Band noch nicht wirklich durchgestartet ist. Dave Hodge und Leah Siegel machen ihre Sache ausgesprochen gut! Vielleicht liegt es auch an ihren anderen Projekten Broken-Social-Scene und Firehorse, das sich der grosse Durchbruch noch nicht eingestellt hat. Das Video mit dem schrägen Hippie-Dancer im Bollywood-Look finden wir klasse und der Song dazu regt einem an, dass selbe wie der Protagonist zu tun: Kopfhörer auf und durch die Strassen zu tanzen!

Arvo Pärt - Adams Passion

Arvo Pärt: One of the greats of our time! As is so often the case, great artists are misunderstood during their lifetime and enjoy an inconspicuous existence. Not so Arvo Pärt! His home is classical music, but interestingly enough he establishes a connection to the electronic ambient music of our time, because ambient as a genre is actually also taken from classical music. Of course, the expressiveness is much greater and more intense with an orchestra, but the reduction to the essentials actually establishes a connection to ambient. Pärt's music lives from the pauses between the notes and therefore begins to breathe, vibrate and thus establishes a connection to the higher self. Contemplation or spiritual messages are always present in his music, putting the soul into rest mode. On September 11, 2015, Arvo Pärt turned 80 years old. In this context, Robert Wilson has come up with one of the most exciting stage events of 2015, bringing together the musical works "Adam's Lament", "Miserere", and "Tabula Rasa". Robert Wilson is a master of light, and so he performed "Adam's Passion" in an old former Soviet submarine factory in its world premiere May 15 in Talin. With actors and extras, over 100 people performed including Grammy Award winner and conductor Tönu Kaljuste. Be sure to listen and watch!

Arvo Pärt: Einer der ganz grossen unserer Zeit! Wie so oft, sind grosse Künstler zu Lebzeiten verkannt und geniessen ein unauffälliges Dasein. Nicht so Arvo Pärt! Sein Zuhause ist die Klassik, stellt aber interessanterweise eine Verbindung zur elektronischen Ambientmusik unser Zeit her, denn Ambient als Genre ist ja eigentlich auch der klassischen Musik entnommen. Natürlich ist die Ausdrucksstärke mit einem Orchester um einiges grösser und intensiver, aber die Reduktion auf das Wesentliche stellt tatsächlich eine Verbindung zum Ambient her. Pärt's Musik lebt von den Pausen zwischen den Tönen und beginnt daher zu atmen, vibrieren und stellt so eine Verbindung zum höheren Selbst her. Kontemplation oder spirituelle Botschaften sind in seiner Musik immer vorhanden, wodurch sich die Seele in den Ruhemodus stellt. Am 11. September 2015 wurde Arvo Pärt 80 Jahre alt. In diesem Zusammenhang hat sich Robert Wilson eines der spannendsten Bühnenereignisse des Jahres 2015 ausgedacht und die musikalischen Werke "Adam's Lament", "Miserere", und "Tabula Rasa" zusammengeführt. Robert Wilson ist ein Meister des Lichtes und so führte er in einer alten ehemaligen sowjetischen U-Boot Fabrik "Adam's Passion" in seiner Welturaufführung am 15. Mai in Talin auf. Mit Schauspielern und Statisten spielten über 100 Personen mit unter anderem der Grammy-Preisträger und Dirigent Tönu Kaljuste. Unbedingt anhören und schauen!

Make frequencies related to music visible! This is what Nigel Stanford and his team has undertaken and presented in the following video. As soon as the frequencies of the music show a certain purity, a coherence between sound and pictorially represented form sets in. Also one would like to establish a connection to the holy geometry or "the world of the matrix" when looking at it. Whether this is the case cannot be answered at this point. Impressively worth seeing is the video but in any case!

Frequenzen bez. Musik sichtbar machen! Das hat sich Nigel Stanford und sein Team vorgenommen und ansehnlich im folgenden Video dargestellt. Sobald die Frequenzen der Musik eine gewisse Reinheit vorweist, stellt sich eine Kohäreszenz zwischen Ton und bildlich dargestellten Form ein. Auch möchte man beim Betrachten eine Verbindung zur heiligen Geometrie oder "die Welt der Matrix" herstellen. Ob dem so ist, kann an dieser Stelle nicht beantwortet werden. Eindrücklich sehenswert ist das Video aber auf jeden Fall!

On June 18, 1988 Depeche-Mode had their breakthrough in the USA with this concert. The video still shows backstage pictures of OMD (Enola Gay) and Thomas Dolby on stage. Funny is the statement of the tour manager with picture of two tape machine: Depeche-Mode is ready - start the Tape please!
