Princess Chelsea - The Cigarette Duet

In New Zealand, where Chelsea Nikkel alias Princess Chelsea comes from, over 400 couples allegedly break up in connection with cigarette consumption in a relationship...

The Cigarette Duet is rounded off by Jonathan Bree from the Brunettes and is somewhat reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood (Summer Wine), although the whole thing sounds much more ironic. According to the label, the whole album by Princess Chelsea sounds like this: “the soundtrack to an old Disney movie meets Kraftwerk fronted by Enya in a 60s production of Les Mis, in space” and “lullabies for the Addams Family”.

Update: Princess Chelsea, the New Zealand musician behind the viral hit “The Cigarette Duet” (2011), is still active in 2023. Her sixth studio album Everything Is Going to Be Alright was released in 2022 and received positive reviews. In 2023, it was awarded the prestigious Taite Music Prize. In the same year, she toured New Zealand and presented the album live.
